Making music, including sounds, chants, melodies, drumming, and other musical components, is not a new or modern phenomenon in the human species.
Children nowadays may assume that music is only available in our period, yet this is not true. People sang magnificently utilizing whatever local instruments they could find in prehistoric periods, when they had access to intricate musical instruments like we have now.
This happened in many areas of life and society. In Christian communities, there is no need for specific instruments to praise and worship the creator of heaven and earth because the Bible says in John 4:24, “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” This Bible verse informs us that no one can worship God unless they do it in spirit and in truth.
You don’t have to know how to sing or be the best musician in the world to worship since singing isn’t worship, and even if making music is part of your devotion to God, it must be done in spirit and truth.
